I have been reading about LAUP. (tightening of the loose tissue in the palate) Wouldn't it be nice to be able to lay the mask aside. I keep hoping there will be a chose. I'm doing fine after 5 yrs. I was talking to a person over the weekend who did well with it, but I am sceptical.

You are wise to be skeptical.
The answer is "NO!". From what I've read, it has virtually no affect on Sleep Apnea......only snoring.
If you do some Google searches you'll find that.

Stick with the XPAP therapy......it works.

"Laser surgery" simply means that a laser is used rather than or in addition to other cutting instruments. A laser can cauterize the edge of the incision as it cuts, so there is less bleeding than with a scalpel. Laser surgery is not new, I had a UPPP done with a laser about 15 years ago.

there's no harm in hoping! I say go for it- it might help

some have closed themselves off to other treatments, which is rather sad actually. with technology and procedures improving all the time, I wouldnt wanna be in the "this is one thing that works " camp

Had LAUP done 9 years ago. Very painful sore throat. Done in 3 sessions. Helped somewhat but not nearly enough to fix apneas. Apap works. Try LAUP if you like. I didn't know anyone still did this procedure.
