Activecell vs Doublecell and Softgel

Post by lhpangler » Mon Aug 02, 2010 8:06 am

Hi everyone,

I looked around with no success. Does anyone know the difference b/t active and double cell? I also notice the softgel vs comfortgel boxing match on the top of the cpaptalk site. Have most people with the mirage activa lt switch from the standard mask cushion to the softgel version?

Resmed part numbers are:
61602 - mirage softgell
60149 - mirage activa lt

thanks,
LHP

I own all 3 in nasal style and I like them in this order:
1. Resmed Activa LT - light and the accordion motion seals your face tight. My favorite nasal mask.
2. Respironics ComfortGel - compact and a little heavier than the Activa, no motion. I would continue using it occasionally.
3. Resmed SoftGel - heaviest and presses hard on my upper gum. I won't use it ever again.

That said, masks are very personal and depend on so many other variables like size and face shape. Ask 100 different people and you may get 100 different answers. The only way is to spend the money and try them and hope for the best.

Thanks, I find your response very interesting. I would not have thought that the active lt was your favorite. The lt use to be my favorite and worked fine. I got a replacement mask cushion and it just seems soo much different that the last one I had. The DME swears it is the same, but for me a few things changed. It seems smaller. It leaves a ring around my nose. It leaks in the corner. I will try the softgel and see what happens.

thanks again,
LHP

I think you might like the softgel. I also own the Respironics Comfort Gel nasal and I don't like how it presses on my face between my nose and lips. It hurts AND it leaks on my face. I'm thinking the Activa and the Softgel seem to be two of the most comfortable and excellent at sealing. I have yet to try the Activa yet but I do like the my Softgel far better than the Respironics ComfortGel.

Just my 2 cents.
