Hi, Everyone-
Sorry to ask such a newbie question but that's just what I am.....new to the forums, and new to CPAP as well.
Here's the question, I just received my s9 Auto yesterday evening from CPAP.com. My Dr. has requested that the pressure remain at 10 continuously. Does CPAP.com adjust the machines prior to shipping them out. If not, how does one adjust the pressure....I saw nothing about this in the instructions.
Thanks in advance everyone....hopefully, I'll be able to contribute something useful in the future....
Best regards!

s9 Auto questions from a newbie
Re: s9 Auto questions from a newbie
I believe they do set the machines according to your prescription. If your prescription was written for CPAP, they will put it in CPAP mode at the pressure listed on the prescription.ttownrunner wrote:Does CPAP.com adjust the machines prior to shipping them out.
You need to be able to change the settings, anyway. I've never seen the S9, but on both the S7 and the S8, you simultaneously push and hold for about 3-5 seconds the "down" button and the "right" button. I have that in quotes because, for example, the S7 only has 2 buttons, but they are rockers so you can push one up/down and the other left/right.
If you succeed, you will probably get a message like "clinical menu." You'll need to page through that until you get to something like "settings," then page to get to "mode" (which should say CPAP or Auto), then page to get to pressure level, etc.
Probably someone who actually has an S9 should be able to help you with more accurate instructions. Good luck, and welcome to the forum.
Adjust your own S9 using the Clinician's manual

I love my S9 in auto mode and it's set 8-18. BUT you can adjust your machine without your physician. Just go to this website and you can get both the Patient manual and the Clinician manual. It is so easy to set your own machine.

That's not very helpful. I've just seen a picture of the S9, and it looks like it has dials instead of buttons. But in any event, here is a different link for the clinician's manual.LoQ wrote:I've never seen the S9, but on both the S7 and the S8, you simultaneously push and hold for about 3-5 seconds the "down" button and the "right" button. To access the clinical menu press and hold the turn dial and the bottom silver button together for 3-5 seconds. You will see a more Robust menu appear. There you can adjust the pressure and if you have the Autoset you can change it to autoset mode with a range like low 5 max 15. That will allow you to be at a lower pressure until you need a higher pressure, then the machine will auto adjust to meet your breathing needs.
Hope this helps. Also I run a video blog that you may find useful. http://www.sleepnation.tv/post/808897740/episode1

You need to at least TRY the setting your doctor prescribed......for a period of time, to determine how effective it is. That pressure is a reasonable one and is probably "average".ttownrunner wrote:Hi, Everyone-

It would be a good idea to check your pressure and other machine settings prior to climbing in bed with it. Also, hooking it up and taking a trial run during the daytime while watching TV or something will help you become accustomed to wearing the mask and breathing with your new "friend".
Download the manual and go through it......then go through the machine setup and become familiar with the menu and settings.......and write them down. If you have any questions, be sure to post them here and any number of people who use that machine will try to help you.

Re: s9 Auto questions from a newbie
Hi, everyone-
Thanks for all of the assistance and advice. I looked at the settings as you suggested. The machine was not set as CPAP but on Auto. The settings were 4-20. As such, I refined it to CPAP and set it at 10. It seemed to do okay last night...I slept with the Quattro mask on for almost six hours which is a decent sleep for me. I will say that 10 doesn't seem like a lot of air flow through the mask. I'll see what this evening brings.
Anyhow, thanks again for helping me out. I'm really looking forward to a good night's sleep and waking up rested!
Thanks!

Try it on Autoset with 6-16 range. See what level your machine determines you need. Let us know.ttownrunner wrote:Hi, everyone-
