North Bay Area, California?

Post by Janknitz » Sat Jul 17, 2010 10:21 pm

Just curious if there are many fellow hose heads here in the north Bay Area, California?

I'm in Sonoma County myself.

That's what I was thinking--it would be fun to get together with other live human beings with SA.

I'm a Kaiser patient, and the Santa Rosa facility puts probably 30 to 50 people on machines every WEEK. Where are all those people????

I trek down to Stanford to see Dr. CG while I can. The people at UCSF aren't up to speed, trust me about that.

Does Marin AWAKE have a website? I looked on ASAA site for a close aWAKE group and did not see Marin.

Wow, Asleep@thewheel, thank you for your information. I've felt quite alone in working through adjusting to CPAP, and having an AWAKE group in driving distance will be great. Unfortunately I'm booked for tomorrow night, but I'll try to go next quarter. I'd also like to find a Marin AWAKE website if possible.

Do you wear your mouth appliance and use CPAP? I'd like to combine the two if possible, so that I can track my apneas and get the gold-standard treatment of CPAP, and get my AHI down as low as possible with a mouth appliance.

Happy Sleeper

As far as I know, there in no marin AWAKE website, I found out they're have a meeting through Dr. Kim at the "redwood sleep center."
I was looking for a local Dr. who can help me manage my 2 and half year old daughter w/ pediatric apnea instead of always having to drive down to stanford.

I use the internal mouthpiece to help keep the lower jaw closed and shifted forward while I use my APAP. Chinstraps are not my bag.

The hardest part I am having problems with it appears is managing the micro-climate's we live in and there constantly changing variations especially since we don't have AC.

Yep, another Sonoma County one. Almost enough for a meeting in person? I haven't been around much recently so didn't even realize this post existed.

Happy Naps,
Mr Capers

Yes, I think we do have enough to get together. I know "Asleep" is in Marin. Is everyone else in reasonable distance to Santa Rosa?

I can make it to santa rosa no problem. Just set a date.

Just got back from the initial Marin AWAKE meeting, I almost fell asleep, that's not good. They have a long way to go and a short time to get there.

Sweet Dreams.

LOL, in any other context I'd suggest you drink some coffee, but in this context all I could think of was "sounds like somebody needs to turn up their pressure a few notches".

I'd love to hear about the meeting.

As for getting together, anybody have a time preference? I work long days during the week and like to be home with my kids in the evenings, but Sunday afternoons are often good for me.

Sunday afternoons work for me as well as long as it's not during football season. One of the few vices I have left that I can enjoy.

There is nothing to report at the meeting that anyone on this site wouldn't already have an understanding on. It was a beginner's beginners meeting for people who have been lucky enough to live long lives up to this point and just now are showing the obvious signs of OSA from muscle tone, osteoporosis, etc issues that everyone eventually gets to face head on. We are all going to die of something. For me it's all about "quality of Life." I have unknowing suffered way to long. It is sad how "asleep at the wheel," the world and particularly the medical community is to the ramifications of sleep/oxygen deprivation. Of all the people who should know how many mistakes are made due to lack of proper sleep it's Dr.s who so call practice medicine.

as you can tell, I am not having the best nights of sleep lately.

Hi Folks,

Sunday afternoons are OK for me, so long as I have some notice - interrupts nap time, but what the heck.

Venue? There are two local coffee houses at Railroad Square?

Happy Naps,
Mr Capers

Aromaroasters sounds good. I can do it this Sunday, otherwise not until August 15. Around 2 p.m.

Anyone else?
