ClimateLine for PR System One?

Post by ziggytosh » Sat Jul 17, 2010 3:34 am

Has anyone heard if Phillips-Respironics is going to come out with a new humidifier/hose combo for the PR System One a la the Resmed H5i/ClimateLine combo? I've had the PR System One since shortly after it came out and am very happy with it. Combined with having lost about 40 lbs over the same period, I credit the PR System One with having brought my AHI down from about 4.5 average to about 1.5, and with lower pressures required.

HOWEVER, my heart hurts to think that there is a newer, fancier gadget somewhere in the world and I don't have it. It is very, very hot where I live and I air condition like there's no tomorrow. I think the frigid air in my room tends to cause the PR System One to reduce the amount of humidity it is pumping out. The H5i/ClimateLine combo seems like it would allow me to sleep in the arctic temperatures I prefer while also letting me crank up the humidity. Plus, then I'd have the newest thing. But there is NO WAY my wife will tolerate me buying an entirely new system; so the only possibility for me to satisfy my gadget craving would be if PR came out with a new humidifer/hose combo and I could pitch it to my wife as a relatively inexpensive upgrade. Anyone know if that's likely to happen?

The PR1 has a humidifier setting which automatically adjusts output based on the humidity level in the room. Have you tried using it?

Another option is to keep turning the humidifier heat setting up a notch until it's putting out the level of moisture you need.

And, no, your wife did not ask me to tell you this so that you would stop thinking about upgrading.

The System one will not be able to have a climate line tubing because it does not have a power connection to the tubing like the resmed S9.

Here is a blog article about the two machines.http://www.sleepnation.com

Your only options areto buy an Aussie heated hose, or turn down the AC and save a few polar bears

(Or move to my neck of the woods where the beautiful offshore breeze pushes fog in at night for "natural air conditioning"--all I have to do is open the window and no polar bears are harmed!).
