Post by SleepingUgly » Mon Jul 12, 2010 10:38 pm

Does anyone know of a good suite hotel in downtown Toronto?

If you call 416 - 555-1212 you can ask for the tourist bureau and they'll tell you what's available, but I would think most suites would be near the airport or on the outskirts in general (vs big or boutique hotels).

I like the Le Royal Meridien King Edward and The Fairmont Royal York.

About 15 years ago, I was staying at one of them (untreated apnea has destroyed some memory) and almost bumped into a man getting out of a limousine. He was a short, well-groomed, well-dressed man with a tatoo of Peru on his balding head. He gave me a friendly smile before a huge bodyguard stepped in between us and forced me away from the limo with a stern look.

It was Mikhail Gorbachev and he entered the hotel. When my companion and I were finally allowed to enter the hotel, we found the lobby, stairs and balconies were filled to capacity. Apparently it was known by some that Gorbachev would be checking in and they dressed up and came for the view.

There's a Residence Inn in Toronto's downtown entertainment district:

They have suites AND they are user-review rated #1 out of 117 hotels in Toronto:

Uhh, so let me get this straight. Is this where the CPAP orgy (or Gateway Link or whatever) is going to be held?

I wasn't notified about this for some reason.

Who all got invited?
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

Very funny! Do you think I need a suite all for myself?! Oh, those days when I would travel alone, going where I want, doing what I want... Anyway, IF we go, WE will go.

t... Anyway, IF we go, WE will go.

Traveling alone is not alway "all that" Singles pay more for cabins on a cruise (150% - 200%). Being alone in a crowd is always harder for me than being alone at home. I have earned a "tour leader berth" on a ship over New Years week. I refused it and asked to take the comission instead. The idea of being alone on a romantic New Years Cruise was just too much. Most of the time I go alone and have fun but just couldn't get past this one.

If you are going with kids the Delta Chelsea is always a good bet. Not sure if they have suites but they have a big pool, waterslides, a whole area for kids activities.

The King Eddie (Edward) is nice but needs a good overhaul. Stayed there last year for an overnight escape with hubby. Overpriced for what you get. Fortunately the company picked up the tab.

Four Seasons up in Yorkville is divine.

Royal York is alright if you get into one of the renovated/refreshed rooms, otherwise it's up there with the King Eddie. Both are historic and lovely buildings but need some work. Mind you ...you could ask for the Royal Suite at the Royal York...the Queen just stayed there so I'm assuming it's perfect (albiet insanely priced)

Do you need downtown? Lots of suite type places in the burbs. I'll ask some friends if they know of any. Living here we tend not to stay in hotels. Would you be interested in renting a house? There are some vacation rentals kicking around in some really terrific neighbourhoods in the city.
These beautiful kids in my avi are my motivation for getting healthy and staying compliant. Need to be around a long time. See my new blog at http://creativekidscakeslife.blogspot.com/ Baking Blog http://feedingtheravenoushorde.blogspot.com
