Somebody please answer this poor kid

Rooster
I have a vision that we will figure out an easy way to ensure that children develop wide, deep, healthy and attractive jaws and then obstructive sleep apnea becomes an obscure bit of history.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ycw4uaX ... re=related

I tried. I can't believe the number of folks who just brushed him off, like everybody else. Sleep apnea will kill you and if it doesn't kill you it sure may damage your body, cause daytime sleepiness or fatigue. At least he's not old enough to drive, though driving sleep while driving might convince them to test him.

I answered too. This may be a kid that worries about every disease he or she hears about (I was like that as a kid ) or he or she may have legitimate concerns. Who knows?

What this kid needs is for the adults in his or her lift to listen and pay attention to his or her concerns. But it sounds like he or she may have to stand on his or her head to get their attention.

Poor kid, I feel for him or her.

Someone should suggest that the kid try audio recording (nobody uses tape anymore, right?) him/herself during sleep.

The telltale snore-silence-gasp pattern typical of OSA should help convince the adults.

If you guys are going to refer 11-year-old kids to this forum, we are going to have to clean up our act! Jaylee, off your knees! DreamStalker, there is no "marriage with benefits"! Roster, just to be safe, you're banned!

Yes, as a teacher, I would have to agree. My posts are tame by an eleven year old's standards.

It is very scary that so many people are basically ignorant of the dangers of SA, and that people are giving him advice to just ignore the problem. I really hope that he has a trusted adult to go to about this problem, and will manage to get tested. It is easy to ignore kids, especially those that seem to constantly have issues (I know I ignored my daughter when she was about 8 and insisted she had broken her finger. I knew it was a little swollen but she complained about every little bump, bruise, etc. so I just brushed it off as more dramatics). Of course years later when she fell down the stairs at her high school and I took her to have her hand xrayed, they pointed out the healed fracture. I felt like a heel! She also pretended to be sick so she could stay home from school, and many times I went along with it. Now she is 21 and tells me that she tricked me back then, and I tell her, no, I knew she wasn't sick, but when your kid makes perfect grades and rarely misses any days, an occasional "mental health" day wasn't going to hurt her--especially when you are a stay-at-home mom and can spend the day with her.

As a parent, one of the hardest decisions I ever had to make was whether the kids were sick enough to go to the doctor (because invariably, they would "be healed" as soon as we walked into the pediatrician's office and I would get the "there is nothing wrong with this child" speech, or should I wait until the next day to see if there was improvement (and by then the sniffles had turned into pneumonia)!

I do hope he finds some help, either with a diagnosis, or with ruling out SA as a cause for his problems.

Can someone please explain to me why Roster is called Rooster so I can get to sleep tonight and not dream about it. Sic.

Fall colours. One of God's gifts. Life is fragile and short, savour every moment no matter what your problems may be. These stunning fall colours from my first outing after surviving a month on life support due to H1N1.

I am not sure about that either. I think perhaps it was a typo when he registered here? The avatar confuses me, as it is clearly a rooster.

My assumption too, JayLee.

Or else he's a Rooster on some roster. Such as the sh*t list of some. GOTCHYA, Roster Rooster!! I just could NOT resist.

Our dear Roster's handle used to be Rooster...

Then he changed it somehow----likely by using the control panel over at cpaptalk's sister site, cpapuction.com. Once you change your user name over there, the change gets reflected over here as well... However, at that point you can't change your user name back to your previous handle---since this site's software recognizes that previous user name as already taken.

Rooster/Roster's apparent solution: drop an egg shaped vowel. Either way he's our Rooster and prefers to be called such.

Weird things happen with userids. I have authentication problems with bearded_one on some of my machines, so when I log in on some of my machines, I am known as bubba_two.

If you are dreaming about Rooster/Roster, you are well beyond any help we can offer...
