My daily 30 minute nap is more like a Meditation, Vacation, Rejuvenation, planning session but it makes me feel great.

Only when too many under 6 hours a night accumulate.....

I prefer to not nap because the sleep cycle issues advance if I do, and I get into a phase of being awake in the night when the rest of the world (mostly) is sleeping. I do push thru it, if I can, and then go to bed early. That is usually more helpful in the long run.

The nap is not a choice but an imperative and even caffiene won't keep me awake at those times....

I'd say it happens no more than 3 times a month these days

Does falling asleep after dinner in the recliner, while watching tv count. Yes, I know it's bad not to use XPAP on naps. I don't feel this causes me any trouble, I can still drive alert, and after a couple of hours in the eveing, I am recharged and keep going until 3 A.M. or longer. I know I have strange hours.... Jim

You should move to Spain and enjoy the napping during the siesta for hours in the afternoon. Its common to see people in there 70s eating out at restaurants at 3am in the morning because they have napped for 3 hours in the afternoon.

If I can nap about 20 minutes in the early afternoon, the rest of my day goes much better. I go to bed by 9:30 and am usually up at 5:30, and the best time for a nap is at 1.

Weekend afternoon "power naps" are my favorite sport, but I've learned the hard way I better be using my CPAP when I take them.

It sort of limits my napping options, but worth it not to feel like death warmed over when I wake from a non-machine nap.

Hi All

I am still having glorious nap's on my recliner. Sleeping for over a hour, with Dusty on my lap, and my oximeter on my finger. The oximeter alarm being set to go off if the SpO2 level drops to 88. I guess I mostly have rem sleep, because I usually dream during the nap.

The alarm rarely goes off these days during my napping. If it does, I try once more, and then if it goes off again I give up on the nap. I notice that if the alarm is going to go off, it will do so at the start of the nap, almost immediately after I fall asleep.

I also notice that if I am able to recline my neck in a backward slant, rather than a forward slant, I am more likely to nap without events.

cheers

I almost never nap and that is a huge statement for me. Before CPAP, I could and DID nap at every opportunity, except it was less like a nap and more like long periods of "sleep" that left me feeling exactly as I did when I went to sleep..exhausted. I am soooo grateful for CPAP.

Pre-diagnosis, I was napping (purposely) or nodding off (unintentionally) on a daily basis. Through just over two years of fixed CPAP therapy, I was still nodding out during the day a few times a week. Since acquiring and using Houdini (my ASV) in January of this year, I no longer nod off or intentionally nap. In fact, I hardly ever catch myself even yawning during the day anymore.

Effective therapy is everything.

Generally the closest thing I get to a nap in the true sense of the word is when I hit the couch to watch late evening TV and conk out before the news.... I don't count that as a nap though cuz I have a spare blower and keep it couch-side and always put it on if I lay down on the couch to watch TV late evening. I usually wake up after two or three hours, turn off the television and head straight upstairs, pay a visit and then hop into bed immediately; so it's just an extension of my sleep period really. Makes me feel great. Napping during the day? Impossible around here. I can't recall the last time that has taken place except perhaps on vacation on the beach or something.

Each to their own. I try to maintain the body's natural rhythm for myself. In some cultures (i.e. Spanish) an afternoon nap is quite normal and expected. But then again, they stay up later and I don't.
