Zzz Mask Full Face Vs. Mirage Liberty Full Face

Post by Hey Man » Sat Jul 03, 2010 10:55 pm

I am required to wear the full face mask and these two are the most appealing to me as I don't want the bar across my head, etc. I am currently using the Mirage Liberty (first mask that I have tried) and I do like it, but I think maybe the Zzz Mask might be better when it comes to my deviated septum. The pillows on the Mirage don't go into my very small nostrils that well. So for those that have tried both the Liberty and Zzz Full Face Masks - which one got your thumbs up and why?

Thanks a million.

Did you receive all three sets of pillows (S, M, L) for the Liberty?

Some DMEs give you the size they think you need and steal (yes, steal) the others.

I was given the Liberty as a loaner (it's new, but it was given to me out of the box and I wasn't given any accessories with it ie different sets of pillows) - as I wait for my insurance to tell me how much of all this they are going to cover (machine, etc.).

I use the ProBasics Zzz-Mask full face mask and like it very much. I can side sleep w/it w/o a lot of hassle or leaks. The only problem I had w/it was that the headgear was too large for my head and I had to use some scissors and velcro to fit.

I'm not a big fan of nasal pillows and have not tried the Liberty. However, before getting in a twit that a local DME provider "stole" the extra sets of pillows check the Resmed website products page for information on the Liberty. I believe it has two different HCPCS codes, one for the Liberty w/just one set of pillows and another for the Liberty w/3 sets of pillows. As long as the provider bills w/the single pillows code what is unethical about ordering the 3 set model and keeping 2 of the sets? That saves them having to order and keep extra sets of cushions on hand.
