Should I get a different machine?

Post by fuhrtops » Thu Jul 01, 2010 1:32 pm

My machine does not display data (AHI, leaks, etc.) but it is apparently stored on the memory card. Should I get a different machine and if yes, how does that work? Do I need a new prescription or can I just go to my DME and ask for another one? It's not earth shattering but I'm interested in how the therapy is going so far statistically. Thanks in advance for your responses. This is the best forum I've ever seen for any topic.

The Respironics CPAP family consists of Basic (fixed pressure, no data), Plus (basic + C-Flex), Pro (basic+C-Flex+ data)) and Auto (all plus ranges of pressure)

Plus has ONLY hours of usage, not really useful info. No therapy data, to know how effective your treatment is

Each DME is different along with each insurance company. Some insurance companies like Aetna will only allow you to use one DME. Others will let you use several. In many cases during the first 30 days of therapy you can return all of your stuff to your existing DME and go to another that has equipment with the features you appreciate and get your original sleep lab to fax the DME the script. I called IV & Respiratory Care out of Belleville, IL (with office in Chesterfield, MO) and they are a great DME. Had my doctor write my script for a Resmed Autoset. St. Louis area is an odd town. The Respironics reps must give out good golf trip promos to the sleep doctors, because I had a very rough time finding a doctor that would write for Resmed APAP.

Your profile shows that your machine is the "Pro" model. That machine fully data capable.

You should be able to see leak rate and AHI showing on the LCD display.

If you want to monitor all events ( Apneas, Hypopneas, RERAs, Flow Limitations, Vibratory snore, there is software availalbe for the System One Pro machine, which you indicate you have.

It is "Encore Viewer" and is available from cpap.come for $99. They have a bundle, costing a little more, that includes a card reader but any memory card reader will work. I use the one on my printer.
