I have been on cpap now since May, 2009. Up until now, I have been reading this site everyday and using the wonderful advice to help me get through this very difficult first year. Without the support of all of you more experienced cpap folks, I don't think I would have made it. It was so good to discover that I was not alone in this struggle to get used to this treatment which I know will be needed for the rest of my life! So thank you, all of you!
I am not one of the lucky ones who started sleeping well immediately. In fact, even after 13 months I am still struggling. I have tried 17 masks (at last count!) and have finally found the Swift LT to work for me. I needed a cervical disc fusion in November that made my whole head extremely sore, both before and after the surgery. I realize that this was what was causing trouble with finding a mask that didn't hurt my face or back of the head. In spite of this, I have been 100% compliant since my first night of use. The head pain is slowly disappearing as the weeks pass, so I am much more comfortable with a mask.
Thanks to all the advice I found here, I ditched my old Remstar M Plus and bought a Resmed S9 out-of-pocket two weeks ago. (I donated my old machine to an organization here in Raleigh that provides machines to people who have no insurance.) I LOVE this new machine! It is SO quiet and the are no blue lights that light up the bedroom like the inside of a plane cockpit! This machine is worth all that I paid for it!
I need help with my new Resmed, however. I can't seem to get the "Sleep Report" page to report new data evey night. The clinical menu has been set to "Usage". It worked fine the first night of use and reported that I slept 7.1 hours. The second night I slept only 5.5, but on the average usage line, the average was 3.6. Days used was 0/1, even though I had used it for 2 days. Nothing has changed on the screen in two weeks, even when I changed the "Period" to Month from Day. Can someone help with this? Have I set something wrong? Thanks!

That's really good to hear you're getting on well with the S9.
I've sent you a PM with all the info you asked for and more
