Reading S8 Smart Card with ACR38U in Win7

Post by dongxf » Thu Jun 17, 2010 5:48 pm

It's an $18 soluiton, finally it works. Threads in this forum help me a lots, I'd like to share the information as a return:

1. Install ResScan 3.10 on Win7, Ignore the driver installation error message and skip it(mismatch OS)

2. Buy an ACR38U Smart Card USB Reader, don't worry about the firmware version, this issue will be resolved when reconfigring driver.
I purchased an ACR38U-SPC, which cost less than $18

3. Hand-make a guiding card, any standard credit card size will be Okey.

3. Download from ACS and install Win7 dirver

4. Connected ACR38U, and Modify the driver configuration. Make sure unmark SFDT checkbox.

5. Start ResScan 3.10, and run Download data function, ignore 'no device' error message

6. Enojoy and say goodbye to $120 ResScan reader.

I got ResScan 3.11 download link this morning. Thank you, Uncle_Bob.
The driver installation of 3.11 comes with same error, just ignore it.
3.11 works great together with ACS driver.

A question I had last week is answered here - good going!

This week I have returned the new S8 for a new S9. I commented that the S9 card could be read by any reader, but the S8 needed a Resmed card reader.
My DME says not anymore, the new ones all have the cards that can be read by any reader.

Oh?
This might be why Resmed isn't selling the card readers to the US any more.
