S9 Elite--Any way To Check AHIs?
S9 Elite--Any way To Check AHIs?
Hi all, new user here. Just finished my second night with the CPAP. So far, so good. Feeling more rested and snoring has stopped to my wife's joy.
Is there a way to check AHIs on the ResMed S9 Elite itself? I am curious to see how many events I am having to compare with my sleep studies.
TIA.

You can also check the AHI on the machine console. I suspect the person who set it up disabled that functionality.
There's a setting in the machine for "Sleep Quality" that was turned off on my machine that you may want to turn on with yours (Hold down the knob and setup button for 3 seconds). If you turn that from "Usage" to "On", your machine will show you stats on the basic info menu.

OK, thanks to Roman's help I have changed the setting on my machine to record sleep quality. This morning my reading was .6 for AHIs. Help me interpret this. Is that an average per hour?
Thanks.
Thanks.

This is "apnea-hypopnea index". Yes, this is per hour, or average.
According to the Wikipedia article on Hypopneas, they aren't necessarily bad, but associated with a low O2 level (<70%), can be.
A .6 AHI is good. Obviously, the lower the better. 0-5 is acceptable.
There's a lightbulb at the top of your screen that will take you to CPAPWiki. You can find a bunch more detail there.

Sounds like you're ready for the ResScan 3.11 software.hannah01 wrote:This morning my reading was .6 for AHIs. Help me interpret this. Is that an average per hour?

:smacks forehead with hand:
Doh! Yeah. BTW, what's the difference between 3.10 and 3.11? And please, no geniuses to tell me that the difference is 0.01... LOL.

Re: S9 Elite--Any way To Check AHIs?
This is good news for me, I can get an S9 Elite after weeks of trying to figure out how.

PetrusKy: Yeah, I have the software--just haven't fired it up yet.
Honestly, I'm not sure what to think of the .6 reading. I have severe apnea (66 AHI) per my sleep studies so it's hard for me to believe that it would drop so drastically after just a few nights. I've taken to the CPAP quite easily and don't have any real issues with it. I guess the pessimist in me thinks it has all been too easy so far.

Re: S9 Elite--Any way To Check AHIs?
hannah01, during my initial study, I averaged like really high numbers - I have not seen them yet. But for about 90 minutes, my AHI was 90. That meant that I had 1.5 apneas per minute!
And yet, during titration, once the sleep tech got me up to 12cm, I had 2 the rest of the night. I never woke up until 6am. (they normally start "checkout" at 5:30).
Last 2 nights, my scores were 0.5 and 0.1 AHI. Yeah, 0.6 could be accurate. Really.
Seems amazing, doesn't it? Probably makes you think, "Why did I NOT do this sooner?!?!?" (or maybe that's just what I've been thinking the last 2 days!)
Best of luck.

Believe it!
I went from 114.4 AHI to less than 7 in the first week, then dropped below 3 after a little tweaking, and now almost never go above 2. I haven't been over 3 in a couple of years and most nights run from 0 to 1.1.
It really is that simple and amazing.
Diagnosed with an AHI of 114! AHI now holding at <2 for over 4 years!
