Advice for changing from "Swift to "Sleepweaver"?

Post by ladybyrd » Fri Jun 11, 2010 10:47 pm

Newbie here...I use a ResMed S8 Autoset II machine and wanted to change from my Swift FX™ Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask to my SleepWeaver Advance Mask due to nasal tenderness.

I swapped out the Swift mask for the SleepWeaver mask but immediatly noticed a big difference in air flow between the two types of masks. I almost have a kind of smothered feel with the SleepWeaver but adore its fit and soft material. Is there a way to get a stronger air flow into the SleepWeaver mask or is it just a matter of taking a few days to "get used to something different" ?

I also love the Swift FX "short hose" that connects to the long hose that attaches to the machine. It seems to give enough extra swivel so I dont find myself tangled up by morning or sooner!

Now the REAL NEWBIE QUESTION: Is there a way to get the various parts you love from company A's product to be compatible with company B's parts you cant live without.....OR is that too much for a newbie to hope for???

Yes, our host, cpap.com, sells replacement parts/components of almost every mask. BUT it's unlikely that the FX short hose will work with your sleep weaver, although it's worth a try.

My sleep doc says the Sleep Weaver is not terribly effective, but I do enjoy it. I wear it with a cpap.com chin strap. Since I'm using a full-face or a total-face mask for night time sleep, I use the Sleep Weaver only for naps. If only all masks were as comfortable and as easy to fit as the Sleep Weaver.
