The sleep lab gave me an Optilife to try last week and all I can say is YUCK!!!

Now, I have a very receding chin (almost no chin at all), and the stability of the Optilife depends on that chin strap. The chin strap kept slipping up below my lower lip like a British Soldier's helmet strap. I never got to the point of trying it in bed but those plastic "wings" that all the straps connect to seem to stick out kind of far to me. I like the way the nasal pillows are designed, and I think that with some tweaks it could be a good mask, but as designed, it just doesn't work for me at all.

That's not to say it won't work for you. Some people seem to like the design. The chin strap is not supposed to be for the purpose of keeping your mouth closed, but it still might work that way for you, if it works at all. If you have a chin to stabilize it with, the pillows are supposed to be very stable and leak free in this mask.

You might try taping with a nasal mask. It seems the least intrusive to me--you don't need tape all the way across your mouth, just enough to keep your chin up and mouth closed.

I like the Swift LT. It is very adjustable to fit almost anyone.
