Sharing software

Post by ilvsleep » Sat Jun 05, 2010 6:50 am

If I purchase the software could another person with the same machine use it also to occasionally have their card read? My friend and I are using the same cpap and it would be nice to share the software!

Yup, you just have two patients listed in your software when you use it. Two different IDs. Its a good place to "store" your PAP's and humidifier's serial numbers too. If the PAP and/or humidifier is lost or stolen you have easy access to the serial numbers for proof of ownership. The professional software, whether ResScan for the Resmeds or EncorePro for the Philips Respironics, are set up to handle multiple patients. I don't know about Philips Respironics' patient software, EncoreViewer. I've never used EV, only EP and ResScan (and AutoScan before that).

i hope that when you and your friend share one CPAP, that the other doesn't sleep without using CPAP. I guess it would work out if you worked different shifts. Jim

Encore Viewer Will let you put up to 4 people in the software. At least Encore Viewer 1.0 would I am not completely sure on Encore Viewer 2.0 but I have not heard anyone say that part of it changed. Now you can go out and get 2 more friends with their OWN machunes to join you club!!!!!

It depends whether you are using the software on one machine, with records kept for both of you, or if you are using it on two different machines. The software is licensed to use it on one machine; it is a violation of the license, and unethical, to have it installed on two machines at the same time.

I don't believe in pirating software because it it wrong -- adjusting your own CPAP machine is a whole different situation.

To be clear: The machine this is referring to is "computer machine" NOT CPAP machines. Software is licensed to the computer NOT the CPAP - assuming it is licensed at all.

My apologies for using the term "machine" rather than "computer". I am a computer geek and call computers "machines" -- I should have realized that the term "machine" has a different meaning in a CPAP forum.

I think she could just bring her data card and download and print from my computer. I was also wondering if I could download to my home computer and my laptop too. Thanks for all the replies! Just looking to help a friend!

Does not have a provision like most of Billy's software that after loading it 3 times it butsts into flames and takes your computer with it. I have it on my desktop and MY laptop also with no problems.
