For some reason ResScan 3.10 has crashed a few times on my Dell 820 laptop running XP. I use a Kingston card reader. I haven't been able to root cause the crashes as yet, esp. since the card reader works fine for copying/looking at the data.
Today, after the crash/reboot, I started ResScan and found to my horror that I don't exist. Looking inside the Patient file for myself, I see all the .rlk files for the last one and a half months, a Notes.db file, a PatientDetails.db file, and a Summary.dat file. So I suspect one of these files is corrupted, thus causing ResScan to not recognize the existence of the patient.
I created a new patient and copied all the .rlk files over to this patient, and I could see detailed data. Then I copied over the Summary.dat file, and I could see my daily summaries. But I cannot see my Notes any more. So maybe my two .db files got corrupted.
I do not have daily backups of my system and my last full backup was a couple of weeks ago. I guess in the worst case I have lost a few weeks of Notes (every morning, I write a Note of the review of the stats along with my thoughts of how well I slept, whether I felt bloated, rested, dry mouth, dry eyes, etc.).
Has anyone played with these files and recovered from a crash before? Any suggestions on
a) what kinds of devices ResScan 3.10 has worked/crashed for you
b) how you have recovered from a .db corruption? Any tools to "recover" a corrupted .db?
c) Any "best practices: suggestions?
Thanks,
Manas
