BiPAP Synchrony S/T and other questions

Post by juanbkm » Wed May 26, 2010 4:51 am

Hi Guys,

Does anyone of you have any leads on a used/refurbished BiPAP Synchrony S/T? I have Pompe disease and have been bipap dependent for more than 10 years. At first it was just night time use but now I am dependent on it 24/7. I have Synchrony's that I rotate daily on about 12 hours use per machine. Plus one backup machine. However one of them broke.

I also live in Manila and these types of machines are hard to come by so I'm desperately looking for one. I know it's time to upgrade to a newer platform. I'm trying out the new BiPAP AVAPS however I'm still not sure it works best for me. Does anyone know that the equivalent of the Synchrony S/T is with new machines. I tried the BIPAP AVAPS on just the S/T mode without the AVAPs and it's not working too well for me. I feel like I'm not getting enough air.

I'm also thinking should it be time for me to upgrade to a full ventilator? Something that's designed for 24/7 use. I'm looking at the Trilogy 100 however, cost is quite prohibitive. There's no type of insurance or healthcare system here in Manila that covers equipment like these. Everything is out of pocket. So for most people these things are out of reach. With most people here making only somewhere in the area of $10,000 a year or less, machines like these are more difficult to have access to.

Any help or ideas would be much appreciated.

Respironics considers the BiPAP S/T to be the replacement for the Synchrony.
Canada...I can't say anything nice, so I won't say anything at all.

The BiPAP S/T? Really. I demoed the new model somehow it seems different. I set it to the pressure settings that were on my synchrony and it felt like I wasn't getting enough air. the synchrony is still smoother for me.
