I have a new ResMed S9 and a variety of masks. I currently am favoring a Comfort Curve that fits well. I go to sleep with no leakage. When I wake up a few hours later that mask is blowing air full blast. It is though the machine has decided it needs to blow at 10. My setting are:
Max 10
Min 4
EPR Full Time
ERR Level 2
No ramp
If I turn the machine off and back on, then it stops blowing and I can go back to sleep. However, the next time I wake up, generally in an hour, it is blowing again.
Anyone have any thoughts as to how I should change the settings on my machine? I don't think it is a mask fit problem.
Thanks
Stumped-Wake up every night with well fitting mask blowing
Re: Stumped-Wake up every night with well fitting mask blowing
Try pushing the pressure up to 10 (you have to do this in the clinician's menu) and THEN adjusting your mask. When you are done, reset your machine to its current pressure settings.
It's probably fine at lower pressures and blowing out as the pressure increases.

full face masks can blow if you 'open wide' in sleep, breaking the airseaal, make up a chinstrap to keep jaw shut, try pantyhose tied in knots
australian, anxiety and insomnia, a CPAP user since 1995, self diagnosed after years of fatigue, 2 cheap CPAPs and respironics comfortgell nose only mask. not one of my many doctors ever asked me if I snored

As you fall asleep your facial muscles tend to relax and that can also account for a looser fitting of the mask while you are sleeping. I also think that tightening your mask when your machine is at it's max pressure is a smart move.
