just a quick couple of questions
1) What are you cleaning the Climateline hose in? Are you doing anything different than you did when cleaning a regular hose? I use the control III disinfectant, do you think that will be OK with the electrical connectors on the climateline hose? Will it be ok to let the hose soak for a while?
2) The manual says to avoid covering the hose with sheets and blankets. I just noticed this and I've been using mine which a fleece hose cover I thought the cover might help I like the cover because i think it also helps protect the hose and it stops to noise of the plastic ridges rubbing on my metal bed head ( which i run the hose through for my hose management). Anyone noticed any difference comfort wise with or without a hose cover?
Resmed™ S9 Climateline Questions
Re: Resmed™ S9 Climateline Questions
I didn't wash it for 2 weeks and then washed it in warm water with Dawn kitchen soap. I filled the kitchen sink with warm water and added a few drops of soap, and then washed the humdifier container, the hose, all my FX pillows, my disassembled Activa, etc. Let them dry out all day, but they didn't dry fully even after 10 hrs. At night, I started the machine with an empty humidifier container, hooked up the hose, and put the masks on one by one to let the hot aire dry everything out. After 20 mins, everything was dry and I reloaded my container with water and went to sleep.
No idea about the long-term affects ... this is still very new. The official instructions are here (I am worried now about bending the tube too often because my tube enters the machine on the back

Cleaning and maintenance
You should regularly carry out cleaning and maintenance as described in this section.
Daily
Disconnect the air tubing and hang it in a clean, dry place until next use.
Weekly
1. Remove the air tubing from the H5i and the mask.
2. Wash the air tubing in warm water using mild detergent.
3. Rinse thoroughly, hang and allow to dry out of direct sunlight.
4. Before next use, reconnect the air tubing to the air outlet and mask.

Well, Bob....ResMed does make a tubing cover designed for both the SlimLine and ClimateLine tubing: https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... -wrap.html. From the item description: "The insulated tubing is made of very soft fleece material on the outside and a nylon material on the inside."

Interesting i wonder why they are concerned about sheets and blankets covering the hose then?DreamOn wrote:Well, Bob....ResMed does make a tubing cover designed for both the SlimLine and ClimateLine tubing: https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... -wrap.html. I dunno. Probably to protect themselves from lawsuits, in case the extra coverings were to cause the heated tubing to overheat and cause a fire? The Aussie heated hose has the same warning about not covering with blankets. It comes with a lightweight, non-removable fabric hose cover on the outside of the hose.Uncle_Bob wrote:Interesting i wonder why they are concerned about sheets and blankets covering the hose then?
It could also have something to do with the sensor that's at the mask-end of the ClimateLine hose. Perhaps if the hose got too warm due to extra bed coverings, the sensor readings would be inaccurate or affect the humidity control/rainout protection features? This is all conjecture on my part, of course.

1. I don't wash my hose (except absolutely necessary) based on the theory that only clean air with suspended distilled water runs through the hose and I leave it with the "cool down" blower running to dry it out. Its not like a mask that has body oils, discharged air etc to mess it up.
2. I would say that the metal headboard for hose management is a no-no... I suspend mine by wide and long elastic so that it can stretch, slide or just sway with the hose. I have the hose just above and behind my sleeping head position. I haven't needed a hose cover for my humidity levels so far but it does run along the pillow on top of the bed.

Almost three months. I still haven't cleaned mine.
I'll likely use grapefruit seed extract and a drop of mild soap inside the tube, filled from the sink using a 2ft. extension hose and two connector rings to allow the soapy water to wash through the hose, and then just wipe down the outside with a moist towel that has grapefruit seed extract and mild soap on it.
