a Newbie thank you!
a Newbie thank you!
Just wanted to say thanks to such quick responses to my first posted question! I am so thankful I found this site I have been sruggling emotionally with the thought of living with this hose nose for life. Kinda afraid I will never get a good nights sleep again. I hate the mask. I have TMJ and it seems to irritate that and cause more pain. One plus so far in this first week is my sinus problems seem to be MUCH better. Breathing forced air must be good for sinus clearing in my case!!
Re: a Newbie thank you!
Just hang in there! I think it takes most people a few weeks to really get used to it. My first mask gave me terrible blisters on my nose, but once I found a different mask, it's been great. Have you tried a different mask? I didn't see you first post so maybe you've already answered this...
Good luck!
Good luck!

Re: a Newbie thank you!
Welcome, alwanna! I suggest that you list your machine and mask via the User Control Panel (upper left on your screen), so we can tailor our responses to your particular equipment. That way we may be able to suggest ways to minimize the problem with your mask.
If the problem is that the bottom straps are bothering your jaw, it could be that you're wearing the straps too tight. Many masks actually work better if the straps are looser, assuming you do have the right size of mask. Also, there are some masks that don't have any bottom straps, such as the AEIOMed Headrest nasal pillows. We may be able to suggest a few others to try.
I'm also breathing better since using CPAP. No sore throat anymore either, which was a problem when I was snoring and mouth-breathing. And no more frequent bathroom trips during the night. More energy and lower blood pressure. Lots of positives!

Alwanna... what mask do you have? Would help if you'd fill out your profile (user control panel).alwanna wrote:Just wanted to say thanks to such quick responses to my first posted question! On another note... don't let TMJ stop you. I have TMJ myself. Just make sure that you don't have your mask too tight. If you're looking for one that's intended to be loose and want a nasal only, try some form of the Activa.
I found with my problems with TMJ, I just couldn't have anything pressing hard down on my jaw... so found something that would press up on my chin instead, plus I don't keep it really tight either.
