Tubes for S9?

Post by patdart » Fri May 14, 2010 5:13 pm

My new S9 came today and the RT told me to keep the tubing from the Respironics Auto 75 because she didn't know if it would fit or not, but she was going to throw it away anyway. The S9 came with the 'slimline' and they look alike other than being slightly different in diameter. Can I just as easily use the old one on it or will the difference in diameter affect how it (the S9) behaves?

Thanks,

I *think* that you can use regular tubing with the S9 if you are not using the humidifier - that's just from reading the manual though, no one told me that. And there is a setting on the S9 for standard tubing, so that makes sense.

Thanks, Pam. i have not yet read the whole manual and it seemed so wasteful to toss them. The RT isn't very experienced but a good soul. I think this is going to really be a DIY experience! So, I'll need y'all to DIMyself.

Thanks,
You can use standard tubing with S9. All you need to do is change the setting from slimline to standard so that the machine knows to compensate for the extra diameter of the hose.

Thanks so much. I try to be green as often as I can! Now, to find the command when I need/want to change.

Do you have the clinician's manual? I don't remember off the top of my head if the setting was in the patient menu or the clinician's but I know I saw it.

ps: I saw a thread the other day with ideas for other uses for old hoses. One of them was to cut a slit down the hose and use it as a cord keeper for your electronics. I think this is a great idea because there is always a tangled up mess behind my TV cabinet.

Oscar98, that's a great idea for recycling...use it to make my area cleaner.

I don't know where you saw that command, but I don't have the clinician's manual...

I don't recall whose idea it was but I thought it was rather smart also.

I just sent you a PM with a link to the manual and the software.

And I'm grateful to you for both of those. I'm keeping the software site for the future use!
