CPAP Internal Clock and Travel

Post by joelrk35 » Tue May 11, 2010 11:28 am

Does anyone change the internal clock in their CPAP when traveling through several time zones?

I don't but then again I'm not using my data anymore to troubleshoot anything so if it's off for a few days I don't mind.

Only issue you might get is that if you're travelling off more than a few hours, then your nightly recording might get screwed up (since most machines reset the sleeping session at noon).

Good question. I've thought about it, but haven't done it yet. I just make a note of the days that it is off. Maybe I should change it? What do people think?

My opinion is that unless you are going to be in those other time zones for a long time, its best to just leave it alone. I think on the PR1 machines, it resets your 7 and 30 day averages when you do that.

Does it really impact your data THAT MUCH if your time zone is off for a few days? It will just look like you slept at a different time than you usually do.

Depends on how far that time zone change is. Going from New York to lets say Melbourne Australia could play havoc with your data as you may be sleeping through your 12:00 noon window for changes.

Your profile shows you don't have software.......so, why bother?

I guess it would depend on how many time zones and for how long......

How do you set the clock on a S8 Elite II? I have not seen that option in the Clinicians Menu.

Thanks

I don't bother. I travel a lot, and have a second machine just for travel, so it almost never runs in my home time zone.

It complicates the data issue, because I should be checking both machines. At compliance-check time, I supply both cards to the doctor's office, so they can see there are no real gaps in usage.
