squeak noise

Post by catbirdgirl » Tue May 11, 2010 5:25 am

my mom's sleeping over, in my living room.

she has apnea and a cpap.

it's squeaking weirdly... almost trumpety... for the last few minutes on and off. Could it be a leak? what could be causing this?

Difficult to tell without hearing it! But most likely a leak.

Any way you can give us more info e.g. mask type, machine type, pressure etc?

Mask (seal) leak?
Seems that if you could get close enough, you might be able to find the source. Having her wear it and run it while awake may tell you whether it's a regular or intermittent thing. Maybe a positional leak.

My wifes hisses and squeals if the humidifier is not firmly seated in the machine.

My full-face mask squeaks when water droplets form on the inside of the mask, over the exhaust holes. Shaking the drops off, or blowing them out with a hard exhale stops it for a few minutes, but the only sure cure is to turn down the humidity.

Not to be rude, but if it sounds kind of like farting noises, it's probably a leak.
