PR1 system - finally I can monitor!

Post by diboja » Sat May 08, 2010 9:43 am

Last October I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea and my AHI was 60/hr.

Under our Provincial Government plan I was provided with a free M Series Plus machine with C flex.(The best unit that they will provide to patients)

My tiredness has been eliminated and I seem to have a lot more energy but the one thing that really bugged me is that I had no visibility as to exactly how I was doing and with no information I felt like I was driving a car down the highway with no windshield wipers or instrument panel.

After reading this forum for the last seven months and seeing how people are able to monitor their situation and at least have an idea as to where they stand I bit the bullet and bought a PR1 System with humidifier.
It is nice to see that Remstar has come out of the dark ages and replaced the smart card with an SD card. My DME will read the card, provide a printout and an interpretation to me every 3 months. Not like some of you where you have the software to do your own thing but I feel content to be able to see my progress doing it throught the DME on a periodic basis.

I have only been using the machine for three nights and I have an AHI reading of .8 which in the scheme of things is probably the most important number from all of the data. The ability to see this on the LCD display along with any major leaks lets me feel that I am on the highway driving with an instrument panel

The PR1 is quiet compared to the M series and does not have the "blue" light which seemed to bother some members (but not me).

I just wanted to thank the folks on this forum for helping me "see the light " and provide me with the incentive to move forward into a data capable machine.

Thanks

Glad to hear you now feel in control

But has anyone got a software system so i can read mine at home? If so please pm me. Getting to a doctor who can spend time / money helping me is a bit hard at the moment with my travel

Yes, you can buy Encore Viewer 2.0 at cpap.com.

Your profile says you have a PR SYstem One auto so this software will work with it. I think it is $99. Cpap.com also offers it with a card reader but, unlike the M Series, the card with the System One is a regular smatr digital card (like the ones for digital cameras) and any card reader will do.

If you have Windows 7 64 bit on your computer, you may have some difficulty installing the software. Someone on the forum figured out how to do it so you can search if you have 64 bit Windows 7.

I have Windows 7 32 bit and had no problem installing it on that.

The thread they are talking about is here: viewtopic/t51779/How-to-make-Encore-Vie ... stems.html

It works on 64 bit windows 7 AND 64 bit windows vista.
