mask Pressure
mask Pressure
I started using the Quattro FFM last night, before that I was using the nasal mask in my profile. My question is both masks put pressure on my face that I'm constantly aware of. If I could get this pressure feeling to go away, I think I would be able to tolerate the CPAP experience much better as that seems to be the only thing that really bothers me. The nasal mask puts pressure on my upper lip and with the Quattero it was my cheeks, if I loosen the straps the masks leak. I wake up a few times a night and all I can think of is this pressure on my face. It will be two weeks on Tuesday that I started using the machine so I realize I still have a long way to go. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Re: mask Pressure
Since you can use a nasal mask you might be a good candidate for nasal pillows which put very little pressure on your face.
The Swift LT for her still touches your face a lot, but without pressure. The Swift FX touches your face a bit less--again, without pressure. And some people like the Breeze nasal pillows--it's a head cap and there is no contact with your face other than right at the nostrils where the nasal pillows seal against your nose.
I would give one of those a try. You MIGHT get used to the facial pressure some day, but if it's still bugging you after 2 weeks it's worth considering nasal pillows instead.

Re: mask Pressure
I had the same problem when I first started. Went through 6 masks in 8 weeks until I found one that didn't rub my face raw or make my teeth ache from pressure. I use the Nasal Aire II. You might look into it:

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.
