newly diagnosed

Post by jeane » Mon Oct 17, 2005 4:51 pm

i was diagnose with obstructive sleep apnea Last week and I have a remaster plus with c-flex and heated humidifier and a comfort gel mask. i am having a terrible time trying to adjust, it doesn't bother me when I finally go to sleep just when I am trying to get to sleep. it makes me feel as if I am suffocating. also I do have a head cold which might be part of the problem. my pressure is 7 and the ramp is 4, not sure if I am saying this correctly, I am new at all this stuff. great information on this site. how long before you adjust to this??

I too feel like I am suffocating below about 6cm, so I would just not turn on the ramp feature when you go to bed.

cheers,
Tom

I used to feel the same way, then this past Friday I came across a post on another thread where someone also recommended turning off the ramp feature. So, I tried it this past weekend and to my surprise - It worked!

I feel much more comfortable putting my mask on with full pressure already going. (My pressure is set at 8 and used to ramp up from 4.)

After too many months I have figured out that everything posted on this site is worth trying. Especially when what your currently doing isn't working.

My mother always says, "Attitude is Everything".
My problem is that I've got way too much of it!

Reading of the miserable times people have with ramp at low pressures, I'm convinced it should be disabled below 6cm!

I would agree with turning off the ramp, in all my years of treatment, I only used it once....

Over 20 years in treatment...
Humidified REMstar Plus at 18 cm
Mirage Swift Nasal Pillow System....A Winner!
