A while ago I was reading a prominent cruise related webite. Carnival Cruise Lines says extension cords and power strips will be banned from the cabins. As a cpap user I was very upset by this news. I was on the phone to Carnival immediately. I was told that these items were never allowed. I guess it was not enforced as I have brought extension cords aboard before. I enquired about those of us on cpap but she advised me to call later when the main office was open. I will and then report back my findings.

Keep the good-quality extension cord in your CPAP case. Take it out and plug it in just before you go to sleep. Unplug it and put it back in the case the moment you wake up in the morning. Consider it part of your medical equipment, since it is. I recommend putting your CPAP away in its case every morning too. It is valuable and easily broken by cleaning staff who may be moving just this side of the speed of light as they dash around your room.OceanGoingGal wrote:A while ago I was reading a prominent cruise related webite. Cruise lines are rightly VERY concerned about the risk of fire at sea. And injury risks are an issue too, for you and their staff. BUT no one is going to sneak into your cabin in the middle of the night while you are asleep to inspect how you are running your medical equipment. So, personally, I would not bother getting permission from anyone. No staff member is likely to want to take responsibility for giving you permission to do what you do. They would likely prefer you to take the full responsibility for that onto yourself. A formal letter notifying management of the implications for users of medical equipment is likely to go further, if you feel you need to speak up.
I usually send a brief e-mail to the ship doc as a favor to let him know my Rx and exactly what equipment I will be bringing on board. If you do that, simply list the extension cord as part of the equipment. Then you are covered.

Jeff,
Your post brought a question to my mind and this is something I need to know about.
If the machine is unplugged and put away during the day (which is a great idea!), does it remember it's settings so that they are there when you plug it back in? I should know this and assume that the machine does remember but am not sure.
Thanks!

YES...even after an airplane trip or a power outage. YES.slibhart wrote:Jeff,

I have no doubt, how I sleep affects every waking moment.
I am making progress-NOW I remember that I can't remember

If this isn’t rocket science why are there so many spaceshots?
