New Sleep Study

I've been on CPAP since August 2009 and have not experienced much of a difference in the way I feel. I recently was referred to a pulmonologist and after reviewing my situation he initially suggested that I might need a BiPAP device instead of CPAP. I had another sleep study last night and will likely have results within a few days. What would be the best bilevel device. If my insurance won't cover it, can my S8 Elite II CPAP unit be reprogrammed to function as a bilevel unit?

Nope. Although that would be an inspired choice by the manufacturers, but NO! You need a new machine. Check out the Resmed S9 or Respironics PR1 (on the sponsor's site of course). There are others, but these are the major players. In any event, be sure to get one that records data AND is an auto bi-level. This will save you much grief in the future.

I was in pretty much the same situation that you're in. I started therapy in June 2009 w/S8 Elite 2 Cpap, and only a couple of weeks ago switched over to a bi-level machine. I went with the S8 Vpap Auto 25 and am VERY happy with it. If you like your Elite 2, you'll L-O-V-E the Auto 25!!!
