CPAP in Afghanistan

Post by drj130 » Sat Apr 17, 2010 1:48 am

Greetings to everyone.

As most of you know, I'm currently in Afghanistan playing Soldier and using my machine everyday. Things are going ok so far, but I think that I've been using the wrong mask size. Which I'm working on correcting.

I've a pulse oxygen meter as well. Trying to get in the standard of using it everyday while I sleep. Don't have to worry much about getting water for my machine because my medics ordered a bunch for me.

I'll keep people updated as I can.

David

That's great news that you're getting on okay so far, hope you can get the mask size worked out. Good luck!

Thanks

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes and the support.

One other piece of news that should bring interesting results for me...

I'm also trying to quit smoking. Today was my first day, i'm not doing too bad right now, but as the saying goes, the day isn't over yet.

Nope, not at all. Wouldn't be any fun if I was to back down.

Hi David

I just want to wish you a safe stay in Afghanistan.

I spent most of 1968 in Vietnam, but on my journey home to England I travelled through Peshawar, Kabul, Kandahar and Herat by local bus. Afghanistan was at peace then, but not understanding local customs produced a few difficult incidents. And the local beliefs in Afghanistan can be far more dangerous than they were in Vietnam (I am open to being disagreed with about this ).

On the other hand, I found that Ramadan was not as all-embracing as some would have us believe. in Kandahar locals were to be found in cafe's behind closed curtains, having coffee and cookies in the afternoon regardless of the daytime fasting rule.

So take care, and come home safely.

cheers

Mars

PS If you see someone walking around Herat with a double sided anorak (red on one side and blue on the other side) it will be the one I swapped for a Afghan jacket and hat.

As many as you know, I can't say where I'm at because of safety reasons. I do have an Idea where Kabul is, and it is to the north of where I am. Things have been interesting, and quiet at the same time.

Hope that I get my internet soon so that I can post some of my sleep thingys.

Dealing with Ramadan, I know just what you mean by that MARS from my time I was in Iraq.

Take care and sleep well everyone.

David
