Get it from a shrink. I was at my monthly therapy appointment today.. He knows about my sleep apnea and my interest in self treatment and distrust of sleep doctors. When I was on my way out I asked him if he would be OK with writing me a script for a mask, he said "sure, what do you want me to write.."

He knows enough about the condition to know that good sleep is necessary to my mental health, and knows me well enough to trust me.

Good guy... Happy patient..

Mask rx's would probably be fine, but a licensed sleep doc either a pulmonologist or neurologist has to write the original cpap rx and diagnose you. (in GA anyway)

Mine was written by a cardiologist - but he owns a sleep lab.

Sorry,
The script can be written by any type of doctor, but the sleep study has to be interpreted by a doc certified in sleep.
