OT: Our Legislators Even Back Then

Post by Slinky » Mon Apr 05, 2010 7:21 am

I was just reading about the White House Easter Egg Roll which included some history about the event.
25) After the Civil War, egg rolling often took place on the Capitol building's grounds. But by 1876, Congressmen grew tired of the torn up grounds and rowdy crowds and passed a law prohibiting the use of the Capitol Grounds as a play area

26) On Easter day in 1878, when the ban on egg rolling at the Capitol was enforced, some claim that President Hayes saw tearful children while riding by the Capitol Grounds in his carriage and invited them to play on the White House lawn
Those sheisters in Washington haven't changed a bit except to get more greedy, selfish and worthless, have they?

I think pork egg rolls are the best.

What we should do in this fall is have a congressional egg roll. If they have been in office for more than two years, roll 'em out and roll in a replacement from the independent carton.

Hell, vote in some of those wacko tea party drinkers ... errr, umm, maybe not ... but independents nonetheless.
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

Actually, Dreamstalker, although I'm not much of a party girl, don't like tea at all, and not much of a wacko (okay, maybe a bit crazy, but not wacko), I do have a couple of dear friends who are tea party drinkers. And they are pretty good eggs, so I think they might do well in the rolling-in process. The independent carton isn't bad either, though.

The first thing that needs to happen is to remove/vote out ALL of the incumbents......regardless of party affiliation. These money-grubbing scumbags need to find out what "We the People" really means......along with "Government BY the people".

Yeah, but WHERE do we find honest, ethical, intelligent people who want to get involved in the filthy world of politics and government? Or to raise and spend the money to get there?

AND - if they HAVE the money to spend and get there - they are most likely so far out of touch w/the real world of the average American they have no real understanding of the needs and wants of the average American.

Part of that problem is that the incumbents are able to amass huge "war chests" of money to perpetuate their existence there and have become "professional" politicians. There are actually quite a few of them resigning/retiring this year because they can see some of the handwriting on the wall. I don't believe the system was intended for it to be that way when it was established......it was supposed to be that they went there for a term or two and then go back home. If they stay longer than that, they lose touch with their constituents and reality. They get corrupted by the system that put them there. It COULD be changed, but we first have to get rid of the ones who are there making the rules and chairing all the committees/sub-committees where the good bills/legislation gets buried/stonewalled.
