Need Help undertanding my ResScan 3.1 data/charts

Post by ungy » Fri Mar 26, 2010 8:40 am

I posted my Newbie story in another post but now that I've just finished Day 2 on my S9 Autoset I really need some help understanding the data from the many experts here. My AHI in my sleep study was 12 without CPAP but went to zero with it. Day 1 (which I've included charts for) was AHI of 6.0 This morning I had an AHI of 10.0

Any insight into this information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The only piece of information that makes sense to me is the 1:30 event since I remember waking up and taking the mask off.

I would suggesting lowering your EPR setting... by having it at 3, you are effectively getting a pressure minimum of 4 (7 minus 3) when you exhale. This could account for your somewhat high AHI (though still not horrible). I know that I had many more apneas when I had EPR on at all, and don't use it at all. EPR is a patient setting, so you should be able to do this yourself without getting into the clinical menu.

You have an autoset machine set on a standard cpap pressure of 7. You may want to call your doctor or dme and ask if they can change you to an auto setting (even if for a few weeks) to see if that helps. At some points during the night you may have needed a higher pressure than 7 to hold your airway open.

Although an AHI of 6.0 isn't massively bad, we try to get them <5.0 if possible. I'd agree with kevincoop and ask to have your pressure set to Auto as your AutoSet is capable of this.

Hi ungy...

Its only Day 2 and perhaps your "team" wants you to put in some more time to get some patterns established. Certainly no one here will disagree that making use of your Auto Machine is a possibility that you need to discuss. All our individual problems can be very diverse and complex. Our advice is simply that, something to consider based on everything that you/ your team knows.

We don't know much about your background but on the surface AHI = 6.0 is not terrible... just room for improvement. Your Leaks don't appear to be bad either. Mt advice would be to give it a week and then armed with the data that you have gleaned; the advice that you have obtained and record of how you feel... have a sit-down meeting with your team where you get some answers that you trust.

Hope that helps and remember this is therapy... not a cure. We're all here for a long time.
