And, that's exactly what I got out of what you were asking. You're new and have questions. And, there's so MUCH information out there to absorb! It's no wonder we newer people to the therapy feel like our heads are spinning and don't know which way to turn!

Wecome. And, congratulations on the several days of therapy so far!

ETA: I think your Subject Title name is hilarious! You should change your username to Suffocation Guy!

If you knew me in real life, you'd find that I actually am "in a dither" pretty much all the time! I have a friend that told me recently that my "normal state" is what other people find "panic." And, she's right.

I'm hoping that (maybe possibly?!) getting more restful sleep will bring my norm back to a regular norm?! (Crossing my fingers here!)

Oops, you're right. I read that wrong and thought he'd been on it since last Sunday.

Suffocation Guy, I agree with sleepycarol - start NOW.

Hi, KMCKOB aka "Suffocation Guy", and welcome to the forum!!! I think that we all felt overwhelmed by this stuff at the beginning, so we certainly understand. I remember not having any idea where to even start after my diagnosis of sleep apnea. It seems that there is so much to learn about machines, masks, rainout (condensation) in the hose, etc. It was very difficult because I had been sleep-deprived for a long time and I wasn't able to think clearly or concentrate on tasks for more than a few minutes. I'm happy to report that things are MUCH better now!

Fortunately, I found this forum even before buying my equipment, so I purchased a machine that can report full data, such as leak rate (important in trying to troubleshoot if you're losing therapy air through your mask seal or open mouth) and AHI (which can give you some idea how effective your therapy is, in addition to how you feel). It was very comforting to know that there were lots of other people going through the same thing. I have learned A LOT since beginning. There are many wonderful people here who are very generous with their time, sharing their tips and experiences for the benefit of us all.

I hope that you'll stick around and ask any questions as they may come up. Chances are that many of us have had to work through the same challenges that you may encounter. Treating the sleep apnea can be truly life-changing! I wish you well as you begin your CPAP journey, and I hope you'll let us know how it goes.

I think "Suffocation Guy" would make an outstanding user name. I have nothing against the name "KMCKOB," mind you, but "Suffocation Guy" rocks as an ID in a sleep apnea forum.

Depends. What will that do to my taxes over the next seven years? What will happen if Bloomberg decides to put tolls on the bridge? Will you be able to get him to agree to a 60/40 split? Will it lose its status as a national monument? Will you take a personal check or will it need to be a certified bank check? Would you mind if I worked out the financial details using my broker in Nigeria and I paid double what the bridge is worth and you could pay me the difference back in Euros in hand?

So, you felt as if you were ... well ... smothered with that tough love stuff, eh?

[ jbf ducks for cover .... ]

Seriously, do stick around. Yes, sometimes we can be a bit intense. Been there, done that. And it is DEFINITELY overwhelming to suddenly realize you will need to use this machine ... possibly for the rest of your life. Boys and girls, can you say "BUMMER!"?

I knew you could ...

Don't worry. We've all been there. And you have EVERY right to get frustrated when we get grumpy about the "get over it" routine. It's easy for us to say months, years and even decades after we went through the same thing.

So, stick around. I think you'll find you had such answers because a lot of people here really do care. We want to see you find answers and make CPAP therapy work for you.

Anyway, best wishes on your adventure ... you are not alone along this road. It might feel like it. But you might even find that you will appreciate the road after a while:
