CPAP machine smells like smoke

Post by Soonerboy1 » Thu Mar 18, 2010 7:18 am

Just got back from vacation...the cabin we stayed in had a fireplace, we did not use it but the people before us must have because the cabin smelled like smoke. Anyway, now the air coming out of my CPAP machine smells like smoke, any ideas on how to get rid of the smoke smell? Thanks in advance.

I'd try running the machine outside, in fresh air, for a few hours. I'd also change the filters. That worked for me when a machine I bought on CraigsList had a bit of sour smell to it. A smoke smell may take a little longer to dissipate, but I hope the suggestion helps. Good luck.
Veni, vidi, Velcro. I came, I saw, I stuck around.

Thanks, I have washed out the humidifier and changed out the filter. I'll try running it outside for a few hours. Thanks!

I was on the road late, and the only room left at a motel was a smoking room. My machine did pick up the smell.I changed the filters and ran it with the window open.I still took 2 days to completely clear.
