Resmed ... I apologize
I gotta apologize for slamming the Rescan software in the past.
It wasn't really the softwares fault.
It was the firmware. Resmed didn't allow the firmware to report the information the software was capable of displaying.
In the past, the Encore software was much better because the Respironics machine didn't restrict access to the information.
With the advent of the S9 and Rescan 3.10, the Rescan software is much superior now that it is allowed to display the information.
You can zoom in to a level where you can examine individual breathes if you wish.

Re: Resmed ... I apologize
Does ResScan 3.10 work on older S8 machines? Worth the upgrade?
Re: Resmed ... I apologize
I think the limitation is in the machine's software (aka "firmware") -- not worth the upgrade.
ResScan 3.7 was cpapable of reporting all that data if you added more hardware (called a "ResLink") to the S8's.

Goshes, Willie. I'm using 3.7 and I can stretch out any of my detailed graphs to 10 second intervals if I want to.
However, you ARE right, it does depend on the "firmware" in the specific xPAP (and accessories), what detailed graphs it provides to the ResScan software. W/o the S8 ResLink I can't get the detailed graphs for my Sp02% and Pulse Rate.

Darn, I was going to find/google 3.10, re-sell on eBay and then retire with my S8 and my masks to some Pacific remote island....ozij wrote:I think the limitation is in the machine's software (aka "firmware") -- not worth the upgrade.

Re: Resmed ... I apologize
I agree, ResScan 3.10 is really great, it gives a much more detailed analysis than I was hoping for!
Re: Resmed ... I apologize
Its backwards compatible with all the older machines but it won't give you any more data. The only benefit I can think that you will gain is being able to download data without having to select "all detailed data" all the time as 3.10 will remember you want all the data each time.dtsm wrote:Does ResScan 3.10 work on older S8 machines? Yup & that feature is worth it - it is a bummer to forget (as on 3.7) to specifically choose the download 'all detailed data' setting each time. But 3.10 allows you to set it & it remembers which level of detail you want each time.

Re: Resmed ... I apologize
Slightly off topic as I'm new to ResScan 3.7: I got my card reader last week and downloaded my historical data. However could only get the detail daily report with detail graphs of pressure, leaks, ahi and events for the day of the download. So that means if I want the detailed stuff, I need to download daily?dsm wrote:Uncle_Bob wrote:Its backwards compatible with all the older machines but it won't give you any more data. Is this the same for 3.10?
Sorry for stupid question but as a Mac user, I'm all thumbs when it comes to Win software?
Re: Resmed ... I apologize
No you don't need to download daily - every 5 is fine - it is that each time you download & are using 3.7 you *must* click the little box that says 'all detailed data' otherwise it only download summary data.dtsm wrote:Slightly off topic as I'm new to ResScan 3.7: I got my card reader last week and downloaded my historical data. But, You can go back and do the download again (the detailed data doesn't get deleted until overwritten by new data after 5 (or is it 7 ?) days.
Restated - with 3.7
1) When initiating the data download - make sure you actively select downloading of 'all detailed data'
2) If you forgot, go back & repeat the download but make sure you choose the 'all detailed data'
3) after 5 days (or 7 - just can't recall at this moment) the data on a Resmed s8 data card will get overwritten by the newest days data - the card will always keep the most recent 5 (or 7) days detailed data.
With Resmed s9s the detailed data the SD card holds, is well over a months detailed data. The SD cards hold a lot more types of data & a ton more detail.
Cheers

Re: Resmed ... I apologize
Many thanks DSM. I'll keep 3.7 for now on my trusty Mac, and test out 3.10 on my son's pc this weekend, and compare the two.

OK I've seen this comment a few times.dsm wrote:Yup & that feature is worth it - it is a bummer to forget (as on 3.7) to specifically choose the download 'all detailed data' setting each time. But 3.10 allows you to set it & it remembers which level of detail you want each time.
I had been using Resscan 3.7 prior to upgrading 3.10 and Resscan 3.7 DID remember the data download settings. In fact it even mentions that on the release notes. So I don't get this at all.

Re: Resmed ... I apologize
How did you get 3.7 to download the details without clicking on "select" for ever download?bigk wrote:OK I've seen this comment a few times.dsm wrote:Yup & that feature is worth it - it is a bummer to forget (as on 3.7) to specifically choose the download 'all detailed data' setting each time. Did they have a "remember download settings" on a separate menu? It would be very helpful to 3.7 users to know where that option can be found.
Thank you
O.

I knew someone would ask that!
I don't remember as I am now running 3.10
However, the release notes for 3.7 state this:

Support for Microsoft Vista
ResScan 3.7 is now compatible with Home Basic and Home Premium editions of Microsoft Vista.
Enhancement
The following improvements have been made to the QuickStart feature in ResScan 3.7:
• The “Patient Search” button is renamed to “Search” to better suit its intended function.
• The “Download detailed and high rate data (if available)” check box font is set to Bold to improve the visibility of this option.
• In previous versions of ResScan, the default option for downloading data is ‘Summary data only”. The selection for “Download detailed and high rate data (if available)” check box is available however, it is not persistent.
• In this version of ResScan, the state of the “Download detailed and high rate data (if available)” check box will be made persistent between different patient files and also between different instances of ResScan.
