Congestion Common?

Post by beccalucky » Wed Mar 03, 2010 2:00 pm

I've been on CPAP for about a month and have had problems with nasal congestion. I've got the humidifier cranked up as high as it will go. Is this common? Any ideas on how to help without being on drugs the rest of my life!

Turn the humidifier down. Too much humidity can cause congestion.

What is your pressure setting? What is your bedroom relative humidity level? What climate (city) do you live in? What type of mask are you using?

My humidifier is practically set on off. Too much heated humidity makes my congestion worse as well. It sounds counterintuitive to turn the humidity down for congestion but the heat seems to cause swelling for a lot of people.

I have a horrible time with congestion so i feel for you. I tried everything, turned down the humidity (which did help a little), nasal spray's galore, antihistamines, you name it, I've tried it. The only thing that helped was to switch to a full face mask. I did not want to go that route but once I did it helped so much. I am not a mouth breather at all but apparently in the night when my nose is stuffed up I must..

Hope you can find something that works for you.
