New to CPAP

Post by PeteWarner » Wed Mar 03, 2010 4:18 am

Hi

It has been good reading all of your posts and broading my knowledge of CPAP treatment I am new to CPAP having been diagnosed with sleep apnea (74 Events) early in Jan of this year and have been using my machine for the last 4 weeks.

Treatment is going well (I have a Resmed AutoSet Spirt II machine) and the fog is begining to lift I had my 3 week follow up at the sleep clinic earlier this week and am now compliant with my next appointment being Feb 2011???? the clinic was very reluctant to give me any further information other than telling me I was now compliant and that that was all I really needed to know.

I want to follow my progress and view my data in more detail but it appears the software is not avaliable in the UK, I have now changed my mask since my visit to the sleep clinic from a resmed liberty mask to a resmed swift LT which i find very good and reasonably leak free but am keen to see if i am still compliant.

I have been told by my sleep clinic and Resmed that it is not avaliable to UK customers but on veiwing all of your posts it has become apparent on the importance of understanding and monitoring your own progress especially with a review date in one year and a GP who has very little knowledge with regard to CPAP treatment.

Can anybody advise where I can obtain a copy of the software to enable me to monitor my own progress

I too have no way to monitor anything. I have no software with my type of machine.
Is there anything I can do?

Debbie,
There's nothing to monitor on your machine but the number of hours you slept.
Unfortunately, the machine they gave you doesn't record any other data.

nursedeborah - your profile shows a Repironics auto. That is the older "legacy" model.

Are you sure that is the one you have? If you are more recently diagnosed, you may have the M Series auto or the PR System1 auto. You do show an auto though.

What does your machine say on the top of it?

I'm not sure you have selected the right one in your profile. Is it really an auto?

In any case, IF it is Legacy auto or an M Series auto, there is software and a card reader for either of those ( the same software and card reader for both). Ther software would be "Encore Viewer" and "Infineer" card reader. If it is the PR System1, there is no patient software available yet. There is a hope that there will be some soon.
