Can't Seem to Get My Hypopnea Index Down

Post by jimD » Mon Mar 01, 2010 1:34 pm

Several months ago I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea (AHI=57) and Periodic Limb Movement Disorder (63 arousals/hour). Thanks in large part to this forum, I've made a lot of progress -- my AHI readings are now in the 11-13 range. After a few weeks on Mirapex (.5mg), my PLMD may be getting better (I periodically use Yawcam in "Motion Detection" mode to film my sleep sessions).

My AI readings are consistently less than 2, but my HI readings are consistently higher than 10.

Does anyone know what "normal" readings for AI and HI are. Any idea how I can approach this problem?

Thanks for all your past information and support!

We share a similar diagnosis, the same S8 cpap unit, and same Ai and Hi readings

According to rested gal and ozij, this ResMed machine has bias to higher Hi. The key is Ai and if they drop, that's good. I'm bad at explanations but here's a good thread to start with:

There are quite a few other threads that also circle the wagon the ResMed algorithm, etc....drill down and you'll find them.
