Help.

Post by marylandcpap » Mon Mar 01, 2010 12:48 pm

Hi...I need some guidance...started CPAP 12-09....I think I've had OSA for 22 years.
89 AHI 60 % min o2....in heart failure...43 years old.....felt OK though....Started
CPAP on 10 (basic unit).....never completed titration because couldn't sleep....Doctor
estimated pressure at 15 or 16....increased pressure from 10 to 15. (started feeling AWFUL....)
warming feeling when waking up and DEEP FATIGUE.....pushed it to 16...felt at wee better, not much, pushed it to 17....no better....what's going on here? I know I need an APAP (saving money for it). I've only slept like 3 or 4 hours a nite since starting CPAP.
I'm on anti anxiety meds..

Without data, we really can't tell you what is going on. Neither can your sleep doc.

Increased pressure settings are often accompanied by increased mask/mouth leaks.

Welcome! There are many here who can help you get things sorted out but you need a machine that provides useful data.

Fill out your profile and make it easier for members to help you out.
President-pretender, J. Biden, said "the DNC has built the largest voter fraud organization in US history". Too bad they didn’t build the smartest voter fraud organization and got caught.

Are you telling us that you are 43 years old, in heart failure and your doctor guessed at a pressure and sent you home with a basic machine that cannot give him any data????!!!! What kind of doctor was that?

I agree with the previous posters. Your doctor and DME are major money-grubbing idiots and without a data-capable machine, you're just taking shots in the dark.
You also probably have a nasal mask (as opposed to a full face mask) and are leaking your therapy air out your mouth during the night. Ever wake up with a dry mouth?

It's a full face mask and it's tight and not leaking, but I will have to buy a data capable machine off of
Craigslist in order to get to the bottom of it....
