Do you have two machines... or just the escape?

I'm asking because I'd hope that you have a fully data capable machine... which the Escape isn't.

The other thing is that you could be mouth breathing... which will negate the good that the machine could be doing... the dry mouth is a symptom of that. You'll need to either go with a Full Face Mask or tape your mouth in order to make sure that you're not mouth breathing/leaking while you sleep.

Do you have a humidifier for the "Escape"? Are you using it? Have you tried more humidity?
What do you mean "can't put the maks back on"?

O.

I assume you tried to increase the humidifer setting?

If so, I would go back to the DME and note that you are having problems with a very dry mouth, you are using a heated humidifier, you have a full face mask, you STILL need to go to the bathroom to urinate frequently during every night, so what do THEY think is the problem? After all, frequent night urination is an indication you still have problems with obstructive apneas. Is you mask leaking? Are you having apneas? How do they intend to find out on your current machine. Put the ball in their court.

Why are you not using the 4i heated humidifier?? Is your heater plate heating?? Do you have a tubing insulator on the tube or put the tube under the blankets with you??

I had a sleep doc tell me that once - I was undone. Of course it's always afterward I think of snappy comebacks. "That's what I've got you for" comes to mind. A little later in the game I could have told them, "I understand that an acceptable AHI is <5 the acceptable leak rate for my mask and pressure is ##. What else do I need to understand?" At this point, I like JohnBFisher's suggestion of putting the ball in their court.

Do you know if your mouth breathing is out of necessity due to being unable to breath thru your nose? Just wondering what it would take for you to become a nose breather.

Hope things improve for you soon.

Kathy

John....very interesting information. Before being diagnosed, I would get up 5-6 times a night to go to the bathroom. After starting CPAP, I noticed that it dropped to once a night or not at all. Amazing!!

And, Mark, as I understand it, one and a half to two hours is pretty much the "normal" sleep cycle, at least at the beginning of the night, so your waking may be related to that.

JohnB has the right idea, lay it all back in the provider's RRT's lap. (And when - and if - you see the sleep doctor again it would be a good idea to lay it on him/her as well. It wouldn't hurt to have your sleep doc on your side in getting some data capability).

Once the mask comes off I get very anxious once I try to put it back on. Then I dont fall asleep or the claustaphobia strikes

I am using the humidifier, I figured out how to get to the clinical menu and I can set things like ramp, epr, percentage of ramp, etc. any changes I should make will be appreciated.
