...ya' know how....

Post by carbonman » Tue Feb 02, 2010 12:28 pm

.....nothing stays new forever.

Just about a year ago I bought a memory foam pillow, on a whim, on sale.
I took it home and in such an innocent way, bacame a pillow slasher.
I also created the absolute best cpap pillow, ever, for me.

Over this past year, I discovered that OSA is contagious.
It must be, because that very same memory foam pillow, has lost it's memory.
....better than 50% of it's memory.
Very disappointing.

So, I started a search to find another memory foam pillow.
Found some, none on sale.....the frugal, less expensive....not cheap..me
just couldn't bring myself to shell out $60 for another pillow.

Last Sunday, while on a mission to the mall, on a whim, I went into
Macy's.....to look for a pillow. I have never been in Macy's.
There is was. On sale, $23.

Once a pillow slasher....always a pillow slasher.....
only this time, an experienced pillow slasher.
It was a thing of beauty.
Broad, sweeping strokes.....cutting a perfect French curves down each
side for the mask relief. Deep, no nonsense cuts for the shoulder cutout
and removed the top in a fileting motion that was akin to culinary art.

......but...ya know how when anything is new, different or strange,
ya can't sleep......yea...got'a get used to the new elevation....
but it's good.

---------------------------------------
...ya know how sometimes...you hear things,
but for some reason you just don't listen?

I have never really liked the feel of the silicon seal on my face.
Just knew it was a necessary part of having a life.
I read the posts about REMzzzz, but never really listened.

About a month ago, I was listening and I got a sample pack.
They're nice. I like the feel of the cotton on my face.
I used two, each for about 4 nights in a row.

....ya' know how when someone or some tag or some instruction says:
"we don't recommend that you do that"
"don't do that under penalty of law"
"violators will be prosecuted"

.....well, I have always had to "do that", just because someone said I couldn't.

So, the first washing was in the sink,
luke warm water, mild detergent,
kind of patted them gently...
very nicey-nice.
They came out fine and worked great....for another 4nights, each.

The second washing wasn't so nicey-nice.
I just put them in my hand and put some Bonner's on them.
Kind of did a little patty-cake under the water.
They came out nicer than the first washing.
Clean, soft....worked great for more nights.

The third washing wasn't at all nice.
I wadded them up in my hand, put some Bonner's on them,
and gave them a good scrubbing.....if I would have been
down at the creek I would have beat'm on a rock.
Guess what??? They came out even nicer.
Because of the hot water, they shrinked..or shrunk...or shrank....
.....ya'know how hot water makes things get smaller?
After they dried, I gently stretched them back to shape and
man, do they work great.

At this rate, I'm guessing that sample pack should last about six months.
Pretty cost effective and it makes the feel of my mask on my face really nice.

---------------------
ya' know how I named my Mseris machine, Grace, as in

amazing grace,how sweet the sound
that saved a wretch like me
How precious did that Grace appear
The hour I first believed.

The name for my Resmed machines had not come to me.
With the new, sensual additon of the REMzzzz.....
and the quiet delivery of my therapy....
it came to me last night......
The Sirens.....as in the Sirens song....
that everynight calls to me......
but rather than being lashed to the mast...
I obey and escape into the abyss of sleep and dreams.

Life is good.
"If your therapy is improving your health but you're not doing anything
to see or feel those changes, you'll never know what you're capable of."
I said that.

Such posts, my friends, are much of why I will never leave this forum.

Although, the washing stuff does seem kinda technical. Not enough for a "UT" in the subject line, though, I guess.

Took the words out of my mouth, you did.

To think I would have missed carbonman if I hadn't stuck around...
