Respironics Integrated humidifiers

Post by Sleepy1 » Fri Sep 30, 2005 9:57 am

I am about to get a Remstar Pro 2 from my local home medical co.

The rep. I spoke with was very friendly and helpful but he said that there are problems with the Respironics integrated HH's, that the "baffles" or something can mess with your pressure and they're not as good for cool humidification in the summer time.

Is this bunk???

Tnx!

I bet they were just out of stock on the HH. There are no baffels in the REMstar HH.

Complete BUNK!

Actually my Remstar HH has a snap in baffle that pops in near the CPAP end of the tank. But I highly doubt it effects pressures and I had no problems getting enough moisture with no heat.

Ditto - bunk! I like my remstar hh, no problems (you do have to make sure the seals are properly connected). The baffle just keeps the water from splashing back into the machine.

I don't mean to split hairs, but that piece you are talking about is a gasket and not a baffle. A baffle is something meant to change direction of the air flow.

It has a gasket too! The baffle is a small plastic piece that clips into the HH right inside the neck (tankside) I think that the older resperinics HH did not have this baffle ( I think its primary purpose is to keep water from sloshing into th HH rather than have a huge impact on airflow)

I'll have to check when i get home... I may be missing that piece. My HH is less than a year old.

I agree that what you describe is a baffle.

I read thread and I am just "Baffled" by it. (Sorry, I could not resist the pun!)
Hoping someday my kids will call me "Howard the Rested" instead of "Howard the Grumpy"

Living proof

Go to this link & click on the pics of the water chamber & you can see the baffle - on new models.

I, for one, could not use the integrated Respironics humidifier. It was just like no humidifier, for me. I tried it and really wanted it to work so I kept at it for about a month. I needed the space. Hoped I would adapt to it, but I never did. I had to go back to my stand alone Humidaire.

But as has been said before, we are all different! What works for one, may not for another.
