ResScan 3.07 Drivers Don't Install. PLEASE HELP!

Post by torontoCPAPguy » Thu Jan 28, 2010 1:58 pm

ResScan Software
Version 03.07.007

Information: Software Installed Well except for drivers. The USB driver said it had installed correctly. The Card Reader software 'Hung' and I had to kill it. Tried a second time. Same result.

I am using a ResMed S8 Autoset II (that is to say I have purchased and am awaiting one along with both the USB cable and the card reader (both options). I am a "life or death" user of CPAP. When I sleep as I enter REM sleep my breathing becomes very shallow and my blood pressure shoots waaaaaaay up, sufficient to present risk of rupturing my Aorta apparently. This is a result of H1N1 and pretty much a month on full life support. If I do not use CPAP I wake up in a drenched sweat with my heart pounding... so this is not an "optional I don't want to snore" thing for me. It is life and death and I am only lucky that it was caught early or "he died peacefully in his sleep" would have been on my gravestone. I have appreciation for the MD's for saving my life this past summer but less than total confidence in their performance these days.

But I digress. I am using an HP Laptop with Windows Vista 32 bit Home Professional installed. I have no issue changing operating systems (as you may well understand) and in fact, have a computer with Windows XP on it and a computer with Windows 7 on it as well on my home network. The install went onto the laptop with VISTA 32 Bit Home Professional and I have no problem upgrading laptops or operating system to another Vista either.

So my question is simple:

What operating systems can I expect NOT to have issues with using ResMed Version 3.07? Am I having unusual problems that others are NOT having (I have lots installed on this laptop but am not opposed to wiping it clean and reinstalling the operating system).

Sorry to be so verbose. When one comes so close to not coming home after a month on life support (and not even being able to turn over in bed, life an arm or take a single step) one tends to take their medical situation VERY seriously and investigate things for themselves. Jeez, the crap that they told my wife when I was being treated has made her a total wreck! She is still afraid of losing me and the fact is, so am I afraid of losing me. So any help you might render would be greatly appreciated. This is a great community and I am truly proud to be a part of it and totally thankful to have found it. Please help me out here.

Sorry to hear about your troubles... I can tell you that the version you have is the same that I have and it works perfectly well with Windows 7. I'm using it with W7 Ultimate and with W7 Starter, and it works fine on both. I also know that there are others here using it with XP, but I don't know if anyone is using it with Vista. Maybe someone else can confirm or deny that it works on Vista, but if you can upgrade to W7, I can tell you it works!

Also, do you have the ResMed branded reader or a "compatible" third party one?

If you have a WiFi device installed in your latop, which now a days is highly likely, you may need to disable the WiFi device when you want to use the ACS card reader. This is independent of which Operating System you have loaded.

The HP Wireless Assistant utility should allow you to disable the WiFi device, however, if that does not work you could try disabling it in the BIOS to see if that addresses the problem.

Cheers,

Bill

I use vista too. I have had to reinstall the drivers more than once. There is a feature to repair the program. Apparently if we take the card out of the reader at the wrong time it corrupts. I find it a temperamental program.

Thanks to everyone for replies so rapidly!

I have a feeling the drivers for the USB adapter have installed okay and the drivers for the card reader (which appear to come from ACS in Hong Kong) may not have. I will find out on the weekend as we are hoping to pick up the adapter and the card reader then. They are both name brand. And as regards the wifi... the HP laptop actually has a switch on the front that switches it on and off. As well as an ICON in the taskbar to do the same.

Will report back at the beginning of the week.

Thanks to everyone again. This is exciting and we are looking forward to improved sleep and health, etc.

Regards to all

Murray Lampert
