gel seal face maks

Post by steelheadid » Sat Jan 23, 2010 6:09 pm

I use a full face mask and would like some feedback on how the gel seal masks work. Do they seal better? Do they still leave marks on your face and nose? I am a side sleeper so does the seal leak or is it better than silicone seals? I would very much appreciate some help before I decide to purchase one, I currently use the Mirage Quatro.

I have the same mask you do. I got a comfortgel full because my quattro was leaking, and at first I thought the gel was awesome- now, not so much. It leaks worse than the Quattro now. But it's all about your face shape I guess- it may work 10x better for you.

One weird thing- it has this weird gel smell that I absolutely love

The ComfortGel has the gel on the inside, and the silicone as the outer seal. So along with the inner gel cushion, its still silicon on your face (assuming the Quattro is silicone). I have the Quattro as well. The silicone on the Comfort Gel is much softer. It is clouded and thinner vs. the clear with the Quattro. Is the Quattro silicone? It feels like vinyl to me. I prefer the feel of the ComfortGel & use their nasal mask, but I also use the Quattro full mask on occasion. I got the ComfortGel full because I don't like the feel of the Quattro, but haven't had occasion to use it yet.

Unlike the Quattro, you can "customize" the ComfortGel to your face by boiling it. I haven't done that because its pretty darn good as is, and I'm afraid that I may not like as well once I do it...but I think that I am going to try it at some point very soon anyway.

Hi,

I formally used the Activa mask since it was released. I tried the new Resmed Gel Mask. I get a lower leak rate with the Gel Mask. I believe the Gel Mask feels heavier on my face then the Activa which appears larger. I find it necessary to get a good seal that I have to tighten the Gel Mask more against my face. The mask material doesn't seem to be as pressed against your skin by the air pressure as much as the Activa. This is why more tightening is probably necessary. I still found Gel Mask comfortable after I got accustomed to the additional pressure against my skin. This would be a very personal judgment.
