Comfortgel nasal mask question

Post by abev » Tue Jan 19, 2010 3:12 pm

First I would like to say "thank you" for all of the help on this forum with cpap questions. It has been GREATLY appreciated!
BUT...................................I do have one more little problem..... I have been using a ComfortGel nasal mask for a little while now and it have been very comfortable for me. I have fixed my rainout and whitstling problem, but now the bridge of my nose is VERY sore. I have tried many different adjustments(no luck) and even used a little medical tape on my nose to form a cushion(caused leaks) Anybody have any suggestions? I have a red spot that will not heal, and very sore to the touch.
Thanks again.

Tape, moleskin on mask, band-aid, but moew than likely the mask is being tightened too tight. The good news after the nose heals it gets tougher. Loosen the straps (Top) slightly and with the machine running lift the mask from your faces a little a couple of times to allow the seal to seat better. jim

I second Jim's recommendation. That is exactly how I got mine to work better.

abev......Have you tried fitting it to your face using the fitting indtructions included with the mask? The hot water softens the gel and allows you to shape it to your face. That should eliminate most of the leaks.

I use bandaids to cover and protects the buises on the bridge of my nose. I cut away an equal amount at boths ends of the bandaids with scissors, leaving just a small amount of sticky ends on both sides of the pad and place the bandaids across the bridge of my nose like a saddle. I started doing this after I got the pressure sore on the bridge of my nose. This is helping it heal and it does not affect the seal of the Cpap mask (Comfort Gel). I hope this helps.

I have you tried a sleeping mask? That will protect the nose bridge.
