CPAPPRO: any good?

Post by frankp » Mon Jan 11, 2010 12:57 pm

A website promoting a mask without any straps sounds interesting (nomask.com). It amounts to a nose pillow, hitched to a mouthpiece. Problem: you try it, you buy it.

I'm wondering if anyone has actually used one of these devices and, if so, how you responded to it. The site, of course, includes glowing reviews, but then you would expect it to.

let me stick my foot in my mouth again. I'm not a big fan of these type masks. Hybrid and any pillow system does have its place but in my opinion its limited, there not made for everyone and again in my opinion should only be used if certain problems exisit. The CPAPPRO is a gimmick mask, its been out for a while and hasn't caught on. I don't think a person should resort to a Hybrid, Pillow system or CPAPPRO unless theres a reason to do so.

I saw another commercial on TV last night and was wondering how long it would take to see another one of these inquiring posts......

Frank,

That's odd, Jay, there are a dozen or so of us here who FINALLY found a good fitting mask...the Hybrid. I see it as a solution, not a last "resort". I went thru 6 or 7 FF masks (which all tore up my nosebridge), then Optilife w/mouth taping, and finally my new-best-friend, the Hybrid!

As to the CPAPPRO/nomask...I've seen the ads. I can't imagine it's comfortable or a good seal, but I've never tried one. I'd like to hear reports from the trenches, too...

Excellent seal! I LOVE mine. Probably one of the best "no leakage" masks around. The mouth piece is designed in such a way that you're "most likely" NOT to mouth breathe (can happen, but the odds are in favor of not). It really is the kindest mask on your face. You'll wake up with NO red marks or "scrunched up" face. You will however have an early reaction to the hystamine response with nasal pillows. I solved this problem with Sudafed and anti-histamine pills. Once you get used to this response? The body pretty much fixes it over time (gets used to it) and all is good. It is a high maintenance mask. It's a mask that you'll have to "out of pocket" on to keep current. The mouth piece should be formed every 4 months. When you get a good impression of your teeth, it fits very well and very comfortable. Takes a bit of practice. You can boil the mouth piece to soften it over and over until you get the fit you want. I did mine the first time. Once you get the mouth piece done, sit in front of a mirror to adjust the tubes and pillows. You'll need to get them "just right". Takes a bit of doing, but once done? You have a solid fit for many nights of trouble free sleep. The secret is to treat all adjustments with a light touch. The pillows will rest very very gently against your nostrils for the best fit.

LinkC I agree 100%, I think we're saying the same thing. I believe the type masks we're speaking of are solutions to problems.
