I have just discovered something about the air flow when the start/stop button is pushed.
I push the button when I arise, read the results, disconnect the hose and hang up the mask. I have noticed a perceptable flow of air even after the button is pushed. It cannot be felt on a full face mask but can be on a Swift LT which has small apertures which magnify any air flow. Is this normal? or should the machine be fully disconnected from the power supply?
It does not make any difference to the AHI numbers but logic tells me that it must affect the air leek numbers.
The manual doesn't appear to address the subject!

Yes, that's normal when you turn off a ResMed machine.foxhunter wrote:Is this normal?
It doesn't affect the leak numbers at all.

Re: AIR FLOW QUESTION ON THE RESMED ELITE MACHINE
I've read that it's supposed to help dry out the hose, or let the water from the humidifier cool without it causing condensation in the machine, etc etc. but, yeah, it's normal.

What palerider said is what I've read, too.
Here's a link to where some other people were discussing the continuing light airflow after turning a ResMed machine off:

rested gal;
I continue to be amazed at the level of knowledge and references at your finger tips. I am highly impressed and read your posts habitually.
I am happy to know that I am not running my beautiful machine into the dust or abusing it in any way as it has become my bosom buddy.
Thankyou

Re: AIR FLOW QUESTION ON THE RESMED ELITE MACHINE
Thanks, foxhunter.
Actually, palerider explained it better than I did. All I did was dredge up a link to an old discussion.
Glad to hear you're taking to "CPAP" so well, foxhunter.
Oh, by the way... some afternoon when you find your machine wheezing and melting (joking!!) 'cause it wouldn't turn "off" completely, post again, and I'll give you some ultra-top-secret discussion links to pantyhose tights and tape. They fix EVERYthing!
