Sleep monitoring

Post by gclausen » Wed Jan 06, 2010 8:41 am

Last night the tech from 1st Class Sleep came over to drop off my new machine (PR System One REMstar Pro CPAP Machine with C-Flex Plus w/ humidifier) however he brought an older model (M series pro) and said that the newer models were backordered. I said I could wait. I asked him if he brought the encore software and he said no. I had gone over all of this with their office ahead of time and just can't believe how they dropped the ball. I wanted a new machine that was able to record events on a nightly basis and I could review the data the next day or when I had felt that I wasn't sleeping well to pin point problems such as mask leaks. I was told I was getting the new machine mentioned above and that the software I would have to buy out of pocket. No problem.
I can buy the software, but they didn't bring it. The tech said he never heard of anyone wanting to monitor their sleep before and didn't think the software was available to the public  . I brought him to my PC and showed him the plethora of sites and forums dedicated to sleep apnea and all the products available. Well, I sent him on his way with the machine he brought and I will be on the phone with the facility this morning. Hopefully I will get want I need.

The DME will never deliver a copy of the software. Respironics does not sell a patient software version for that new machine, only one for the professionals. So if you are holding out for the PR System One, better be figuring out how to get a copy of the professional software (it can be done).

Thanks.
I just wanted to add that I did talk at length about what I wanted in a machine and how I wanted to monitor my sleep habits and was told by the sleep center back in November that the PR System One REMstar Pro CPAP Machine with C-Flex Plus w/ humidifier was the one I was going to get to meet my needs. So here I am thinking that they know what they are talking about and come to find out they don't.
I actually did some digging into this and the software that Respironics makes, (Encoreviewer) does not work on any 64 bit system and they are not planning to make a 64 bit version so thats a dead end. It also does not work on the PR versions. The new machine uses Encore pro 2 which is a professional version only, nothing for the patients. So why stick with Respironics then if they are going to do this. How about Resmed? It appears they offer patient viewable software that works with all their machines. Anyone want to weigh in on this?
How about this as a replacement: S8 Elite II CPAP Machine with H4i Heated Humidifier, ResScan Version 3.7 Software and USB Card Reader

Okay, doing even more digging and found that the ResScan 3.7 (RESMED PRODUCTS) is compatible only with 32-bit operating systems. It is not compatible with Windows Vista 64-bit operating system.
Is anyone using Win7 64bit OS and using a monitoring software???

Excellent choice IMO, https://www.cpap.com/productpage-bundle ... undle.html . Screw Respironics for not making patient software available.

Sorry, I can't help on the OS question.

For Windows 7, look into XP Mode. It's a virtual machine using Microsoft's Virtual PC software and comes with a full XP license. Might do the trick for you.
