Hi,
Can anyone explain to me why my results look good, but lately I am having to get up at least three times to pee during the night and my blood pressure is elevated when I wake up. These are things that I remember from when I didn't have my machine and when I was working out the kinks. I'm not particularly tired during the day, but I find these two signs worrisome. They are a relatively new development, but my numbers haven't changed. I don't know how to attach my info as a signature, but I have a Resmed Elite II. My AHI is usually under 4, my AI usually falls somewhere between .4 and .7., with an HI somewhere between 3 and 4. My pressure is set at 9.6. Should I worry?
Is my machine lying to me?

Are you drinking more liquids before bedtime?
Are you taking blood pressure medications? (and/or a diuretic?)
Have you had your blood checked? Or, do you have Type 2 Diabetes?

perhaps its the diuretics or a bladder infection
if its the latter, the urine is often a different color or smell

Re: Is my machine lying to me?
I recently have gone back to getting up 2 or 3 times a night to pee, but I know why. My legs are retaining more fluid, and as they go down at night, that fluid has to go somewhere. Are you retaining fluid for any reason? The other question, are you able to tell the duration of your remaining events? Even if they are few in number, they can still cause the same problems as those we had before cpap. Have you tried a small increase in pressure to see if it helps? I upped mine from 12 to 12.6 once when I had congestion, and my numbers became more consistently good so I left it there. Good luck with figuring things out.

Holiday food indulgences or less sleep that might causing fluid retention that then might heighten overnight hypertension or otherwise increase events at night?

The others responding in this thread are nailing it, imho.
CPAP can be doing it's part of the job great (keeping the airway open nicely for good breathing while sleeping) but there can be numerous other health problems -- for anyone. With your good CPAP numbers, I'd be looking for other causes. As the other posters suggested.
